Post card. Not sure about the date. Wonder what make the car is. It's not a BS number.
Picture added on 30 March 2007
Registration number is SC9326. The bonnet appears to have flutes along both sides which would probably make it a Vauxhall and the general style smacks of about 1935. Date of the postcard - ah!

Sc9326 is an edinburgh registration of 1931. Boots' presence makes the photo post war, but it's before the Albert Kinema fire of 1947 (or is it? Where's the cinema sign?). But from what David Mackie says in his comment on picture #2690 the number on the postcard makes it pre-war. Help!

Having looked hard and long at this P.C. I would like to add my thoughts regarding dates and events.
I am almost sure that Boots started trading in Albert Street in 1946 (I could be wrong), but having worked there from 1950 until retirement, I feel this is quite accurate.
The name above the door is the old logo of the Boots Pure Drug Coy.Ltd., which later became Boots the Chemists Ltd. therefore making this an very early photo, the exact date of which is impossible to say.
I must say I think along the same lines as Paul Sutherland, that all is not as it should be in this picture. Looking at it enlarged it looks very like as though the fascia of the Albert Kinema has been photographically retouched.I refer to Barbara's P.C.( picture #2707 ) dated 1970, and it's clear to see that the old fascia is still there.
The old frontage of the building is still there in the above photo but everything else does not correspond in my opinion. For what it's worth I think this was taken after the 1947 A.K. fire.
