picture #26060 showed 'cartes de visite' from four Orkney photographers around the turn of the 19th/20th centuries. Among them was a D McDonald of Kirkwall. R M McDonald, who took this photo of my uncle Charlie Smith in MN Apprentice's uniform, wasn't among those four. I've no idea where his studio was situated in Stromness.
