Broad Street, Christmas 1998

Broad Street, Kirkwall, Christmas 1998.
Nothing special about Christmas 1998 that I recall - must have just happened to have a tripod in my back pocket.

Comments:
I was always a great believer in tripods. Even more so now. I used to have hands as steady as a brain surgeon, but alas no more.

Image stabilizers in modern lenses can be surprisingly effective, within their limitations, but I'm in the same boat as you Sandy as regards tremor. Though I was obviously joking about having a tripod in my pocket, a small one in the camera bag can help a lot, especially in situations where free-standing tripods are forbidden (galleries, museums, churches, etc). There's usually something to set a small 'pod on, or you can press it hard against a wall, pillar. etc. Here endeth the . . .

Got myself a telescopic monopod. I get a bit dizzy sometimes so I can use it as a walking stick/ stabiliser. Very pleased with it.
