M.V. Clytus – May 1989.
I don’t know if OISC owned Clytus at this date. She looks a bit scruffy.

I wondered about that Billy. OISC vessels were usually very smart (like the crews) and I just wonder if she was in new ownership when this photo was taken. Does anyone know when this vessels came into to the hands of Currie Bros.

She was sold to Currie Bros on 9 June 1989.

Thanks D. This photo was taken on the 8th May, 1989, so she was already a bit scruffy before she was sold. By gum she was a lot scruffier after that.

I remember seeing MV Clytus in the Caledonian canal on her way to Orkney, in (I think), July 1971.

For the record: MV Clytus was owned by Orkney Islands Shipping Coy. She carried passengers between Kirkwall and Shapinsay, 1971 until 1989.

I was in Corpach, with a load of timber from Mull when she came into the canal on her way north. I was skipper on the MARSA at the time.

Bunny and Peem kept her in pristine condition. The last engineer Willie Leitch, made me a souvenir anchor out of the rails and top hamper bits, now in the heritage centre shapinsay as part of the boat exhibits for the tall ships visit.
