Reaper FR 958

Photo taken 2002 at the"Clytus"berth,Kirkwall Pier.A fine old Sailing Ship of the"Fyfie"Type,She has been in the News lately for all good reasons, going to the aid of a boat in distress and being there before the lifeboat. I think She's based in Fife but is often up around Portsoy and Fraserborough as part of the Scottish Traditional Boat Museum displays. Added by Phil Brough.

Comments:
Hi, I was visiting Orkney in 2002 complete with a family album including a photo of a similar boat, "Queen", 9mentioned elsewhere on this site. I could not believe the site of Reaper when driving onto the pier. I showed the picture to the skipper and was given a detailed look around the vessel. He gave me some history of my pictured boat apparently built by Weatheralds, amazing.

The pictures of 'Queen' I referto are picture #2325 and picture #2331. By the way the sleeping quarters on the Reaper were frightening, so small and claustrophobic. The Queen was built at Weatheralds of Cockenzie.
