That's certainly what later became Mackay's Furniture Stores and Ivydean. See picture #163, picture #166 (a different shop of the same business I think) and, for a view directly opposite about the same time, picture #860. I notice the name F W Campbell over the door. A Frederick William Campbell owned the house directly opposite (86 Junction Road - later my parents' house) from 1920 to 1934.

Was Fred Campbell a diver who worked on the blockships in Holm Sound in the twenties ??.

The titles of 86 don't give F W Campbell's occupation, just describe him as living at 2 Buttquoy Place when he bought it in 1920, and at 1 Palace Road when he sold it in 1934. I think he must have been around for a lot of years after that for I think it was him who gave my father picture #860.

Fred Campbell was my grand-uncle, a brother of my paternal grandmother. He was born in Evie in 1883 and died at Benmora, Cromwell Road, Kirkwall in 1959. On his death certificate he was described as a Diver and Harbour Construction Superintendent.
