These of course were pressed into service to provide VHF/FM Radio for Orkney ( Scottish Home Service, Third & Light) & BBC TV on 405 Lines, VHF. Grampian TV would come a few years later.

1955 is not a bad guess. Have a look at my picture #199 taken from the same viewpoint in 1960, after the aerials had been removed.
