8 May 1993. When I first flew from Orkney, DC3 Dakotas had just taken over the route from DH Dragon Rapides. I always envied my brother who had flown in the older type, so when this drop-dead gorgeous creation arrived at Kirkwall, offering joyrides at about a pound a minute, I was at the head of the queue. Gteat weather for flying too!
