David Bews, who enlisted in the Territorial Army, Royal Artillery in Orkney, 1939?

This is my Dad,David Foubister Bews,originally from Strathore in Shapinsay,then much later Messigate Cottage, Tankerness and,just before he left Orkney, Swanbister Cottage, Orphir. Sadly he is no longer alive and I wish I had asked him more about his war service. I do know he was in Germany at some time. He also went to Ireland and spoke of the beauty of the mountains of Mourne. He was attached to Seaforth Highlanders.

Shapinsay Heritage trust has a DVD (made from Rev W Moore's films) showing Terriers marching off to war + Mrs Bews at manse + island events. Well worth a look
