Janet Tulloch "retired" to this address after years of service as housekeeper to Mr & Mrs Wm Tait of Buttquoy House.(known to all as "the Master"). Janet was a very kind lady who treated all the bairns of Buttquoy Drive to home made scones etc. She also played a mean game of whist and rummy.

This photo is back to front as the garage was on the left looking from the front. This is where I was born in 1949 and my birth certificate says Tankerness. Does anyone remember Annie May Wards who worked at Messigate Farm at this time. I know she retired to Finstown and died a long time ago. She was like an adopted Gran to the three of us.

My parents, Harry and Maggie Rendall bought Messigate Farm in 1958 so I knew Annie Wards for the short time that she lived in Messigate Cottage as John Tulloch's housekeeper, until he died. They moved into the cottage on his retirement at that time.
