Radio-controlled model of Stearman trainer, Twatt 2 Sep 2007
Picture added on 03 October 2009 at 18:48
Comments:
Actually a Fairchild PT-19 used by US Army Air Corps as a Primary Trainer in WW2. Nice little model though, I hear it was a great day out at the old airfield.

I bow to your obviously superior knowledge Dave; I was just going by what I thought I heard the guy say over the PA system. It was a good event, though gusty conditions meant the less sturdy(more expensive?) models couldn't be flown.

Kind of you to say so Ian thanks! As you may know I am along with Kevin Heath in Stromness a founder member of the(Aviation Research Group of Orkney & Shetland) A.R.G.O.S and we are doing our best to put Orkney & Shetland on the aviation map. There is so much history up there which has hitherto almost been forgotten as most people tend to think more of the fleet in Scapa Flow, so along with our website and our quarterly magazine which I am in the process of editing, it is hoped the aviators of both war and peace will be remembered. There are also plans for an aviation museum and the group at present serching for a suitable site. Ian, if you took any more photos at Twatt that day a couple would be most welcome on our website. Regards. Dave.
