Peter writes:
'In the days of Tom Kent , this vessel was ,I believe, built at Peaces woodyard and sailed all around the North Isles. Peaces woodyard was aquired by Baikies Woodyard, before eventually becoming the site of the now Kirkwall Post Office.'
Date is an estimate.

Is this the boat that went on to be bought by Col Henry Willie Scarth of Skaill House eventually? Think I saw a painting of it in the house , possibly? by Summerscales?

Yes "Some Lass" This is one and the same vessel.
I remember my late grandmother telling me that greatgrandfather Walls was at one time a member of the crew. His nickname was I believe "Capt.Drake"
The Njala was owned by the Scarth family, who also owned the woodyard where she was built, as far as I know.
