Rene worked as a telephone/teleprinter operator at Kirkwall Airport before leaving when the Phoenix Cinema was opened. My wife Mary Garriock got her job when she left. Rene showed Mary over the new Phoenix before it was officially opened. We still remember the lovely curtain that opened when the screen was used. It was magical to us all.
