Checking the vehicle registration records at Orkney Archives might identify who at least four of these gentlemen are (providing the owners are the riders).

Groundwater's Buildings, the property I mention in my comment on picture #3184 as possibly being under construction in that picture, are seen here immediately below the Cathedral tower. To the right, with white-washed gable, are what I think were known as Macgillivray's Buildings. If you look at them today you can see how removing chimneys, skews and glazing bars spoils the look of a house, whatever it does for keeping the weather out.

The 4th man in is my great uncle John. He had the first motor bike in Orkney.
