This is the Tom Kent picture Paul refers to in his comment to picture #2066. This is again at the Dounby crossroads, Oag's Shop in the background

Comments:
Ah, what service! Thanks very much. Is that John Sclater the draper, Provost of Kirkwall from 1904 to 1907, in the nearest sidecar to the camera, with his son on the bike? And on the extreme left of the second row of cars back, could that be John McEwan, Headmaster of Kirkwall Burgh School, in his 9 hp Aerex, registration BS 1? I think someone once told me too that Bill Davie the lawyer was on one of the bikes. Does anyone know which?

Yes, that is indeed my great-grandfather, John Sclater the draper, with my grandfather John MacIntyre Sclater on the bike. I have the horn which was on that bike and it still works. Richard Shearer identified where the horn came from which is pretty impressive!
