Date is a guess.
I think the fair-haired girl in the centre of the photo is my granny, Meta Towers, she's 87 now. Any other names would be appreciated.

Hello Viv. Was your Granny in George Brown's class at school? If so, that could be him on the extreme right at the back. This photo is more likely dated around 1930, I think. Your Granny looks like you.

Louise Hutcheon is in the middle row, 2nd from the left. She was dux of Stromness Academy 2 years later in 1939.
