Thats a De Havilland Fox Moth! The windows behind the engine are the clue, it was a small passanger compartment for 4 folk.

De Havilland Fox Moth bought by Midland and Scottish Air Ferries in Feb 1932 and according to a paper cutting was part of the first scheduled air services in Scotland.

Yes William, it was a DH-83 Fox Moth, re-registered VH-ABU and acquired by Australian Air Force in 1941. Had a chequered career of crashes and repairs, finally re-registered VH-GAV and crashed in Borneo

Correction to my last blurb. G-ACCT was registered in Australia as VH-ABU January 1938 and taken over by RAAF in September 1941. Later with QUANTAS, Air Ambulance and Missionary. Crashed at Bulolo, Papua New Guinea in April 1949.
