Comments:
Is that not John Mooney sitting in the middle? If so, I don't think these can be Commercial Bank employees (he worked for R. Garden). According to Peace's Almanac, Mooney was President of the Church of Scotland Guild (at that time an organisation for young men). He was also involved in the Young Men's Literary Association. Notice they are all wearing buttonholes. I wonder why.

I stand corrected. William was with the Bank, so I was making a presumption. Obviously an erroneous presumption. William Maxwell died of TB aged 32 and, according to his death notice `took a great interest in Temperance` and and also took interest in the Poor-house, attending services there on Sunday evenings.
I am now curious to know more about this group photo.
