Old Friends (date approx)

Albert Maxwell (my great-uncle) is in the centre.
Can anyone put names to his friends?

Comments:
Yes! To Albert Maxwell's right is Nicol Spence whose shop was where "Keep Orkney Warm" is now. The other well known gentleman is George 'Dod' Leonard.

This photo, or one very like it, appeared in the "Orkney Herald" at the time above a few sentences about these gentlemen. I think it mentioned how many years' service on Kirkwall Town Council Albert Maxwell and Archie Spence (who owned the business called Nicol Spence - I think Nicol Spence may have been his father) had between them. I noted it down, and the date, when I saw it a few years ago, but do you think I can find my notes?

Tonight, eleven years after making my above comment, and while looking for something else entirely, I found the note I mentioned. The photo appeared in The Orkney Herald of 26th February 1957. I think it is the one now printed on page 130 of volume 1 of David Partner's book about Kirkwall. It was obviously taken on the same occasion but from a different angle.
