Here is the Queen Mother meeting some of the widows from the Lifeboat disaster.
L to R Jean Swanson-Crissie McFadyen-Ivy Johnston-Maggie Johnston.
The girl the Queen Mother is patting on the head is Karen Johnston now Karen Kirkpatrick, wife of present Cox Kevin Kirkpatrick.
Life has changed a lot since that sad times, who would have forseen how the "youngsters" at that time would take there rightfull place in our Island today.

My uncle was one of the crew of the Longhope lifeboat. He was Eric McFadyen, I only met him once when I was very young. Have been trying to find pictures of him on this site. Would appreciate any help finding photos.

Just noticed this query of 10 years ago, Patricia. On this site, the photo entitled 'boys o the Longhope Youth Club' has Eric second left at the back, next to Ian on his right. (picture/number26724.asp) I was responsible for the squint fringe on what was a Beatles haircut! The picture was summer 1967.
