A picture to go with Sandy's ones of the Orkney Islands Shipping Company/ Orkney Steam Navigation Company premises. This shows the Orkney Steam Staff outside their office, but it's not the office shown in Sandy's pictures but an older one. I think it must have been in the gap in picture #11328 - you can see the down pipe and hydrant sign. It's also in picture #528 and picture #8341. The tall building in the background puzzled me till I realised it is not the one next the Ayre Hotel car park but another one nearer Junction Road now demolished. Names written on the photo are Pearl Swanney (Mrs Hector Aitken), Violet Flett and Donald Bertram. No name is given for the woman on the right. Date estimated.
