Hangman's ladder

Among the artefacts stored in the upper reaches of the cathedral you will find the Hangman's Ladder, with side by side sets of rungs. Two would go up, but only one would climb down...

there was also a big bell and a broken stone coffin up there too, may still be there

Last time the ladder was used 4th December 1728 and that was for the execution of a young lass Miss Meason from Shapinsay
