This was the 8th November 1971 when four Danish trawlers got into trouble while sheltering from a northerly gale on the east side of Kirkwall harbour. They were the Rosslau - S449, the Clupea - S198, the Kami - S237 and the Anne Stranne - S455. The Kirkwall lifeboat Grace Paterson Ritchie was involved in the rescue attempts for which the coxswain Robin Dennison was awarded the RNLI bronze medal for his outstanding seamanship.
