Inside the workshop, I wouldn't think long hair and pony tails would be wise with all that belts flying round.

I dont think the same health and safety rules were in forced in them days compared to when I was there we dreaded H & S visits mad rush to replace gaurds and tidy up on hearing they were about, long hair wasn't that big a problem we wore hats. Most of the machines remained and were belt operated until Ayre Road closed in mid 1980's
