Orkney Sailing Club - points racing

Date is a guess. N637 is a Merlin Rocket using a National 12 mainsail. It's been suggested the boat is Njord owned by Ian MacKay at the time, can anyone help confirm this? Many years later Njord was raced by Leslie Tait with John Skea as crew. Boats in background are a slightly older design. Leading boat is First Attempt sailed by Dan Grieve. Other similar Rockets around at the time were Freya sailed by Ronnie Drver and Corona sailed by Jock Laird.

Comments:
Freya should be Ronnie Drever - one finger boogie didn't work the night I prepared the comments.

What is the black structure in the foreground to JT Flett's house?

Large Nissen hut, don't know what it was used for. Before Ortak was built there were caravans in that area. Snipe Miller lived in one of the caravans.

I could be wrong, but I feel that this black nissen hut could have been part of what was known as Hatston Garrison Theatre.
It certainly was situated in this area, adjacent to the Guardroom and Main Gate.
It was probably last used in the 1950's as a venue for a series of summer dances, organised by the late D.G.Spence.

The building to the left of JT Fletts house was a kinda blocked in caravan belonging to Davy Jock Bews. I think he was the grave digger at one time.

Re. The black nissan hut. picture #1422 has a comment added today that confirms Peter's theory that is was part of the Hatston Camp Garrison Theatre.

The answer is always out there, it is just finding the person that has it!
