I saw picture #772 first and wondered where this cottage was, but this picture seems to place it at what is now the Grammar School end of the Papdale Primary School playing fields, with the walled garden below Papdale Farm behind it. Is this road still called Papdale Loan?

Yes, the road is still called Papdale Loan, at least the upper section of it.

Does anyone know if this is where James Matches(1888-1957)and his wife Georgina Mainland lived?
