Mystery object no. 1

Go on. tell me what this is, and where I took the picture, by adding a comment.

Who knows, this could evolve into a regular mystery object identification league, if more than one person replies.

I have seen the same or similar at rerwick ? tankerness . I have also seen a black circular disc about 300 mm diameter with a central hole.... Is this a record?

It looks like a mounting point for a large gun, compass bearing on the large ring for direction. Have not got a clue where it is but would be very interested to find out

The answer is...

it's at Rerwick in Tankerness right enough, and is a mounting point for a gun, part of the WWII battery there. There are a couple of examples of them.

To go and have a look yourself, you drive to the tarred road end at Boondatoon, and carry straight on down a good track to small car park near the shore. A well worn path takes you in a loop past the battery and the cliffs.
