A photo of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Stromness. She saw service during the Falklands War when she carried troops from 45 Commando Royal Marines to the beach landing at San Carlos.

We enjoyed a good day aboard this ship way back in the 1970s when the crew of the Stromness Lifeboat were invited for soft drinks.

I first saw her in 1967 when she came into Addu Atoll lagoon, Maldive Islands, presumably to refuel from the tanker hulk RFA Wave Victor anchored there. I was serving at RAF Gan at the time, but despite being the only real-life Stromnessian within a thousand-mile radius, wasn't lucky enough to get on board. I'll try to post a photo from back then.
