Comments:
This was the hall that was to become the home of The 1st Kirkwall Company Boys Brigade, as far as I can remember, circa1947.
On the other side of this building, there was a second hut joined on at right angles, and extended as far as Copland's Lane, behind what was then the St.Magnus Cathedral Hall.
The main hall seen here was an ideal building for parade nights and for the weekly pipe band practices, not to mention the Saturday night club and dances.
The other hut was divided up into numerous rooms suitable for many classes which took place on parade nights.
At the far end of the main hall there was also a very large kitchen and put to good use on many occasions.
To the best of my knowledge, this was the first time The Boys Brigade had owned a hall of their own. Alas it did not last so for very long.

The 1950 -1951 session was the last year that the Boys Brigade met in their Palace Road Hall under Captain John Foulis. The 1951- 1952 session was held in the Victoria Street Hall (now the Baptist Church) under Captain Robert T. Tullock.
