could any one tell me what the rings are around the horses right ears? the bridle doesnt appear to have a browband great picture !!!

This picture is of my Father on his croft, it is in the back ground, Onziebist is the next farm.
There are one ring each ear.
They hung up in our garage.

The "rings" around the horses ears are used instead of a browband. It is the normal arrangement on an american riding bridle, and I have seen bridles in Orkney with two ear loops instead of a browband.
