This picture shows a float in what seems to be a fancy dress parade. The placard on the roof shows it to be an Orkney Association, and since the truck belongs to the North Company, I assume it will either be in Aberdeen or Leith. Date is a guess.

I am certain this will have been taken in Leith. The placard on the roof says "instituted 1909" which was the foundation date of The Edinburgh, Leith & District Orkney Association. I attended its centenary celebrations in 2009 as a former President (1966/67)Three other former Presidents were also there Ronnie Henderson (President before me,Married to Ena Hourston) Bill Wilson & Len Wilson (Presidents after me). Current president for the last near 30 Years is Jen Corse (nee Bevan). Ronnie, Bill, Len & myself are the only four ex-presidents still alive. This float could have been at the coronation of 1937 and because at that time the shipping Company sailed Leith - Aberdeen - Kirkwall - Lerwick and return then getting a lorry from the docks would have been fairly generously given to the association.
