A painting on the reverse of a piece of hardboard. The artist's name lookes like 'J Scott'. Noticed it in a house I was working in today , the owner reckoned it was 30 years old. The location is perhaps not immediately obvious, well it wasn't to me nor my work mate Andrew, who's grandparents live there .
So it's a quiz and our Genial Webmaster will award a prize (in a brown envelope) for the first correct answer.
[No he won't- instead he'll suggest that it is a view looking north east over Finstown showing The Ouse and the school in the middle distance, and the big building second nearest to the artist will be Baikie's Stores- Steven]

Is that J.M. Scott? I have a painting titled Sennen, The last village in England. Who was this painter?
(from BC, Canada)
Would you be interested in photos of St. Kilda, 1902? I have many.

I would be fairly sure the artist would be the late Jim Scott of Smithy Cottage Finstown, He did a lot of paintings in the 1960s

I bought a small oil painting on a piece of hardboard. The title written on the back is St. Ives, Cornwall. There is a small signature in the lower left hand corner. J M Scott. It shows a narrow street leading down to the sea. Houses on both sides of the street. Five people in the painting, though two of them are difficult to see.
I bought the painting in Palm Springs, Califonia, USA.
I would very much appreciate any information on them.
