Quarrybanks cottage just outside Stromness, last residence of Guilio Fugaccia, Confectioner and Fruiter.Painted inside green white and red to represent the Italian flag it was in disrepair when this was picture was taken but the colours could still be seen inside. It has been demolished now.

Helen, I am interested in finding out more about Mr Fugaccia as I believe he used to have an icecream parlour in Stronsay in the days of the herring fishing.Can you confirm this ?

Fugaccia had his ice cream shop next to WP Drevers in a wooden hut. His favourite saying was ICE CREAM CHEAP TODAY AND FREE TOMORROW E.S.
