Sandy Heddle gave me a job as a barman in this bar in the early seventies, back then the bar was for men only. The dockers used to bang on the door at 11 o' clock wanting their Special Brews.
The only time you saw women in that bar was when the north winds blew bringing in the Norwegian trawlers for shelter...back then the bar opened at 11.00 - 14.30 then 15.00 - 22.00.
