Hatston Houses

A close up of the Hatston Houses and some of the younger residents.
It really was an adventure staying at Hatston.
You'll notice the pride that everyone took in their gardens back then!!

Not the finest housing scheme ever, but the finest PLACE for a housing scheme. I remember it well. Everybody seemed to be so happy there. The houses were poor, but what the hell, hid wis a roof ower wur heeds. We were young.

my mum was telling me that when we moved there it was 'pure luxury'. She even remembers the wallpaper we had!! Everybody got on with their neighbours and the kids all played together. Most of the friends we had then are still friends now. I dont remember it unfortunately as we left Hatston when I was 2

We lived at Hatston houses for about a year and a bit in 1968-70. We had great neighbours and there was a lot of bairns about who seemed to get on so well. We had the key of the house for a week before we moved in, so I thought I would strip the wallpaper off the lounge and passageway and repaper,I certainly made the lounge bigger inside by stripping off about 10 layers of paper, but,oh! happy days when everyone was so content with their lot.

We were one of the first families to move to these houses. We lived at no 19. I cant remember much as I was just a baby but my dad has good memories of life there.

Are these the Donaldson girls in pink with matching prams? We stayed in the Post Office houses - big rooms and a huge enclosed garden, from '73 to '75. It was a great location. Hot in summer and freezing in winter.
