Old Legion Club

Alan sends in this Andy Wylie picture of the old Legion Club, and writes:

'I suspect it lived on Great Western Road and was the wartime home of Toc H and later Kirkwall and St Ola Community Centre. Three people ouside- Left ,a young Charlie Millar . Middle-Jimmy Urquhart. Right -Teddy ?'

Date is an estimate.

Comments:
The Old Legion Club was situated next to where the Fire Station is today, my dad and mum Margaret and Charlie Millar lived behind the Legion Club and my brother Eoin's first home was there.

Dad says that the date this picture was taken is 1962

The Teddy ? in this picture is Teddy Heddle, I last remember him living at the end of Laverock Road on the Pipersquoy side.

This was the Kirkwall & St Ola Community Centre after it was a Toc H. My father, Eric Windwick, was the caretaker. The leantoo
was our kitchen. The chimney stack belonged to our living room fire.
Happy days!
