I remember this. What a lot of weel kent faces. Doesn't seem that long ago.

Standing up in the middle looks like Nigel Coulshed and Ingrid Tait. Also slightly to the left of Nigel is what looks like the profile of Stuart Burgher former dentist of this parish. Also can anyone suggest why Miss Work always looked so white ????

The peedie lass holding Miss Works hand is I think Eileen Drever who works in the Post Office now

Would she be the same Miss Work who taught me in the infants? We were in the St Magnus Hall way back in the fifties.

Yes Rognvald. That's her! She never changed. I too had Miss Work way back in the fifties. A wonderful woman. So kind and helpful and a great head mistress.

I think I can see my twin sis Shona, third face up in the bottom right hand corner, with bunches. Can't be me, I would never have worn bunches! Other faces I can make out are Erik Leslie who looks like he's really enjoying himself, Colin MacIver, Neil Watters, Linda Logie, Fiona Tait, ......

I came across a cutting from the Press and Journal the other day dated Thursday 31st October 1974 and it ran the headline: - Send-off at Kirkwall for deputy head. It had a couple of photos including one that was half a page. A summary of the caption went: - Pupils of Kirkwall Primary School gave a great send off to Miss Margaret Work when she retired after 40 years of teaching. Miss Work, who lives at Swarsquoy, Tankerness received a tape recorder, bouquet and a book with the signatures of the pupils – all 700 of them.
