This shows the staff of an army office of some kind in Kirkwall during the First World War. It may have been taken behind what is now Foubister and Bain's and the Tourist Office. Peace's Almanac for 1918 mentions Orkney Territorial Force Association's Secretary as being D Flett, 4 Broad Street, so that might be it, but perhaps someone can say if these are Territorial or Regular Army uniforms. The girls are, left to right, Emma Rosie, Violet Flett, Cilla Hercus. Date estimated.

Cilla Hercus (Ursula) was my aunt but since she died in 1920 aged 17 I never knew her.
