Mystery marine light

I was recently shown this navigation light believed to be a bow light from a drifter or minesweeper based at Lyness during WW2. The current owner's grandfather was based on board HMS Iron Duke during WW2 but understood to have served on a drifter or minesweeper during this time. Can anyone provide more information with regard to what type of vessel this lamp came from and what duties the vessel would be carrying out ?
