Ref. picture #24998. As promised this is a photograph of my family at the front door of Lochend in Stenness. I estimate that it might have been taken in about 1928. I don't know all the names but from left to right:
Back row; ?, ?, Stanley (Dad), Maggie Jolly (Granny), Jack.
Front row; Irene, ?.

Are these people any relation to the Spence family from Brodgar?

Not as far as I am aware. But it is possible. Names would be handy.

Pretty sure not. My Dad, Stanley, was born in Harray and the family moved to Lochend a few years later. His great-grandfather was born at Skelday in Birsay. My Spences were from Birsay back many generations.
