This is the former chicken house, on the shore just below, Muckle House, Cava. It had a bed and a cupboard and was used by Meg and Ida as their guest room. Prem Fojtu (pictured) and I stayed overnight on Cava in June 2015. From the state of this building we judged one more good Orkney gale this coming winter will finish it.

Hi Richard, did you get any other photos of the island? My great grandmother is from the island and it would be great if you managed to stumble upon her old cottage?

I and my wife stayed here in the early 80s Ida's bedroom was a chicken house just above the main house.
