Comments:
I believe this is the tomb of Mr Tomison, founder of Tomison's Academy, South Ronaldsay. It is in the garden of (I believe) Dundas House, currently occupied by Hamish Mowatt.

An air raid shelter?

Yes Richard, it's the mausoleum of William Tomison. I believe the academy was upstairs in the house behind, until the building across the road was erected.
I'll post a shot taken inside the tomb, which gives some information about Wm Tomison.

I agree with Richard's comment. I visited this a few years ago with my aunt, who taught at Tomison's Academy many years ago. We didn't know at that time that the school was now privately owned so, when we found the door open, we went in. We were later joined by Mr Mowatt who owned the place, and it transpired my aunt had taught his family!! I do have pictures of that visit.

I did submit the shot taken inside the mausoleum. Maybe it'll show up yet.
