Someone on the "Piston Heads Forum" reckons they saw this "doon sooth" somewhere - I think it's a wind up myself, surely Bill Spence still has this on his Jaguar? ( EDIT: A quick check on the DVLA site says BS 1 is on a silver Jaguar XK8 indeed)

Indeed he did Robbie and he came up to try to buy some parts off Jackie,I took him to meet Jackie but he widna part wae anything.

You can see Billy Smart Jr, with BS 1 on his Rolls Royce here, around 1970, with Roger Moore of The Persuders fame, who played Bret Sinclair, Smart let the TV production company use BS 1 on private roads - in some episodes, the Aston Martin's real reg can be seen, where they have had to film on public roads.
