In a comment on picture #1164, in Nov 2010, 'Louise' asked for pictures of the statues in Graemshall garden. picture #25615 showed them after removal and re-erection in Inverness. Today, 15 Jan 2013, while looking for something else, I came across the above slide which shows the three at Graemshall. Unfortunately the rather low resolution of the original transparency means my attempt to enlarge the relevant area is pretty ineffectual, but at least it helps to confirm the ladies are, left to right, Faith, Hope and Charity.
To my mind, the symbolism is a bit ambiguous: Faith holds a Bible and Hope an anchor, whereas one can put one's faith in a well placed anchor while the Bible offers hope to sinners seeking redemption (if you care for that sort of thing).
Charity seems to be pouring drink into a toddler out of a jug.

Nice photo and they look more at home in the garden at Graemshall than they do here in Inverness, a landmark gone forever.
