Inside the building on Damsay. I am told it was once a pub.

I think Damsay is owned or rented by Binscarth. They put sheep on it in the 1970s and probably still do? I can remember going out to Damsay with Jock Manson, the Grieve of Binscarth when I worked at Binscarth during the summer in the early 1970s. Not sure about it being a pub! It was a Norse Hall and the scene of the killing of Earl Haraldsson. There also might have been a nunnery on it.

I am told that the bay of Firth was a popular anchorage and a lady who lived on Damsay used to sell beer to the seamen. Anybody got more info?

Damsay was definitely part of the Binscarth estates in my grandfather's time. I have a photograph of him and his brother (Sandy and Bob Scarth) in the "Sheepie Boats" sailing back over from Damsay. That would be the late 1910s/early 1920s.
