Lyness July 1984

My dad David Gillespie and my boy Justin 4yrs old I'm in the car with Lorraine 6 mths. We were on our way to a favourite spot Wea Fee. All the tanks are still there in 1984 but just the one left now. The Lyness Social Club is in the background which would have been shut by then I think. Jackie Irvine's Pines what a success they have been, he has certainly left his mark with all the bonnie trees he planted at Lyness.

Comments:
Beryl the trees we see in your photo here are now a sorry sight, after the hurricane winds we had on 10th of December 2011. A great number are up rooted and fallen onto others and the whole plantation is in a sorry state.
I remember Jackie and Eric laughing and saying they would never be up there wae there chain saws!.
Well I doubt that is all that can be done with a lot of it now,a great pity.
