2009/10 maybe, in the car park at Glaitness School.
Saw this BS reg. car at a rally of cars that had driven up from the south of England.

Hi Isobel, the number BS9954 cannot be contemporary with the time this car was manufactured as my family bought a new Ford in the early 60s and its number was BS7001. So this number must have been after that date. Can someone confirm this?

As someone else pointed out, BS7777 was the last in that format to be issued before the prefix style plates arrived in 1965. Remaining BS numbers were used to re-register vintage cars until they used them all. The previously unused BF xxxx is now being used by the DVLA for the same purpose. Unused all those years ago apparently due to contemporary association with the phrase "Bl***y Fool"!

BS7001 was first registered to Mr J. Laughton Eastersands Deerness on 6th Feb 1963. It was a Zephyr 4, colour Imperial Maroon

Yes, that was my father. The car was a beauty, if I remember it had a bench front seat and column gear change. I remember driving it to work and it could sure go up the Brae o' Wideford!
