Brinkie's Brae

American visitor Kendall Ross a few feet above the apex of Brinkie's Brae, Stromness. Sep 2009.
The Thermos mug containing herbal tea went with him everywhere. Kendall is a fine musician on several instruments - and a house-painter on the side. He has lodged with me a couple of times on the basis of his mutually-beneficial suggestion regarding meals: "You buy, I'll fry". Not that he'd stoop to frying - he was into 'healthy eating' and sustained that massive, ex-American footballer's body on a near-vegetarian diet - so that's what I (basically a carnivore) ate too. Kendall came to Scotland originally to look into his Ross ancestry. Don't think he found anything relevant to that in Orkney, but he liked the place a lot.

He's top of the Crocs!

I've mulled over your comment for a while now, Al, but the penny hasn't dropped. We don't often see crocodiles around Brinkie's Brae - there wasn't a single one that day, I remember - and I never heard of a 'trig point' being called a Croc. So would you be so kind as to explain? (I'll probably kick myself when you do.)

Thanks Steven. I'll get a pair and kick myself with them.
