Polish Army badge, WW2.
Another rummage in old boxes brought this to light. Google tells me it's the badge of Dywizja Strzelcow Pieszch (Rifle Infantry Division of the free Polish army in Britain). Again, I have no idea how I acquired it. The only member, or ex-member, of the Polish forces I met in Stromness was 'Danny' Gredkowski, and I'm sure he didn't give it to me. The best-known Polish army man in Orkney would have been Captain Tadeusz (Teddy) Zawadski, whom my father probably met briefly, but he was a cavalry officer and not likely to be handing out infantry badges as keepsakes.
I thought of submitting this as a 'mystery thing', but sufficient mystery remains for those who wish to have a go at unravelling it.

Comments:
I am doing a family search for the Gredkowski family on the Orkney Islands. I was wondering if you could help as I came across this article with that surname. Thankyou.
