Yet another from CMs collection on the back is a name that looks like "Willesden"? dont know any thing else about the vessel, in this shot she appears to still have her boilers lit, did she refloat and where was the stranding ? it seems like it is in a bay as there is land not far away or might it be she is on Stroma with the Caithness coast behind?.
I am sure there is a very worried master pacing the bridge at the time of the photo.
A man I know told me he was on a ship which stranded on the coast of Africa and the masters hair went grey olmost over night!!.
That is not what pit me hair grey by the way!!.

The S.S. Willesden was sunk by a German raider in April 1942. (photo in Google)But it's not this ship although it is a similar type.

Think the British ship WILLESDEN managed by Watts Watts of london went ashore in thick fog on Skirza Head Freswick in 1911. The ship herself was later refloated.

In the Canisbay book John there was a ship named Willisden that gied ashore in thick fog at Skirza Head Freswick Caithness in 1911,she was refloated again

I have nothing to go by other than the name on the back, it is possible this photo was pre war and by the condition it is in its highly likly that it was.
